The region, which was the trading center in Hellenistic times, became a port city during the time of the Roman Empire. The only remaining information from the Lycian Covenant is the coins that Antiphellos minted both for himself and for the association he founded. The city, which was under the influence of Arab raids for a time, was later incorporated into the Anatolian Seljuks and was given the name Andifli. At the time of Yıldırım Bayezid, the region joined the Ottoman Empire.
