Azerbaijan Baku, Martyrs' Lane- The area called Şehitler Street (Martyrs Road, Kirov Park), which is within walking distance to the city center, was first named Şehitler Street in memory of the funerals of Azerbaijan and Turkish soldiers who were martyred in the Baku war.
Renamed by the Bolsheviks, which took control of the area from 1924 to 1990 and was used as an entertainment center, the area was renamed after the Black January 1990 incident.
1,130 Turkish soldiers who were tortured under the command of the Ottoman army were buried as martyrs with 15 thousand graves. The names of the martyrs can be seen in the monument, which was opened in 1999.
