How did the coronavirus come about and how did it progress?

First, let's remember, in chronological order, the appearance of the Covid-19 virus and how it became a pandemic.

  • In the world's first corona case in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, 40 people were diagnosed with pneumonia. It was found that the disease was not pneumonia but a new type of virus. This virus, for which there was no diagnosis, treatment or vaccine at the time, initially spread quickly across China.
  • Not long after these diagnoses, coronavirus detections could be heard, especially from neighboring countries in China. First, coronavirus diagnoses from countries like South Korea, the United States, India and Iran began to increase rapidly.
  • In Turkey, the Scientific Committee on Coronavirus was convened on January 10, 2020. They deal exclusively with the fight against the coronavirus, precautions and measures. While uncontrollable virus cases were reported from around the world from January to March. Not a single case has been found in Turkey.
  • The first case in Turkey was reported on March 10, 2020 and strict measures have been implemented since then. These limitations are mainly;
  1.  All training and further education activities were initially discontinued with a 3-week decision and the decision was gradually postponed.
  2. In April, flight bans were imposed in almost 100 countries.
  3. Collective activities such as league, sports competitions, tournaments and concerts across the country have been canceled.
  4.  A curfew has been imposed on citizens over 65 and under 20 years of age.
  5. All prayers, including Friday and public holidays, are temporarily prohibited.
  6. On April 6, 2020, curfews were imposed at various levels across the country.
  • By December 2020, vaccination activities with different priorities were started in Turkey. Although vaccination activities were implemented very quickly and extensively, the restrictions persisted for a long time.

What will the trend look like in the fourth quarter of 2021?

Vaccines appear to play the biggest role in the number of cases brought under control in mid-2021. Although the swiftly carried out vaccinations with the decline in the number of cases were primarily seen as a way out. With the lifting of the restrictions in June, the number of cases fluctuated again above the 20,000 values in 2021.

Despite the vaccination campaigns, the increase in the number of cases threatened citizens To create suspicion and to take prohibitions. And restrictions and precautions when it is all over.

Although there is no clear statement from the official bodies. According to experts it is one of the rumors that we can return to the restricted days in October - November. The pandemic, which is better under control than last year, is not over yet.

Fahrettin Koca made pessimistic statements like "The pandemic has been brought under control. But if the measures are abandoned it will not be difficult to go back to the bad old days". While all other ministers state that the pandemic is almost gone and from there is no question of renewed restrictions. In September 2021, the biggest restriction is on the agenda: mandatory PCR tests for non-vaccinated people.
