Covid-19 restrictions for international travel

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred at the end of 2019 has also led to many changes in the tourism and travel industry.

What precautions are taken for passengers coming to Turkey from abroad?

Covid-19 restrictions for international travel - From July 2021, the Ministry of the Interior made some decisions regarding passengers entering Turkey from abroad as part of the coronavirus measures in Turkey. In summary, we can say that these restrictions are either a document that you have been vaccinated in the past 14 days or a PCR test that has been negative in the past 72 hours.

The interior ministry's new injunctions were announced on June 1st and, according to Turkish Airlines news, the following decisions have been made;

• The flight ban for Brazil and South Africa has ended.
   
• PCR test result for passengers who have been in Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days within the last 72 hours. (must be negative)
   
• Compulsory use of a PCR test at the airport for travellers from Great Britain, Iran, Egypt and Singapore.
   
• In addition, the PCR test results will not be requested from passengers who present a Covid-19 vaccination record or a document showing that they have been vaccinated from their respective country. At the same time, no documents will be requested from people who have been Covid-19 in the last 6 months.

What precautions are taken for passengers traveling abroad from Turkey?

Many different restrictions and precautions have been taken for people going abroad from Turkey. The Ministry of Interior has generally grouped the countries under 3 main headings for those going abroad from Turkey. Because every country has different procedures and regulations for Covid-19 restrictions.

Countries with low restrictions:

You can visit the countries that fall into this category from Turkey. You can only enter these countries without quarantine with a negative PCR test in the last 3 days. A rapid test is only carried out at the airport for people who come from countries in which the Covid-19 variant has been detected. Countries with low exit restrictions from Turkey are mainly as follows:

• USA
• Russia
• Kazakhstan
• Iran
• Iraq
• It can be listed as most of the African countries.

Medium Restriction Countries:

States that apply restrictions with slightly stricter measures compared to countries with low restrictions generally consist of countries that have not yet been able to control the virus. You must remain in quarantine for 7 to 10 days when entering and leaving these countries. You must also be vaccinated or have a negative PCR test result within the last 72 hours. Some of the countries that apply moderate restrictions on leaving Turkey are:

• Brazil
• South Africa
• Belarus
• Pakistan
• Countries like Algeria.

High Restriction Countries:

There are countries that are set at a global level and have a very high risk of the pandemic. It is never recommended to travel to these countries based on statements from around the world and health organizations. Accordingly, the borders of these countries are closed to everyone except for those who do not reside in these countries. This is because the virus is completely out of control. Some of the countries that severely restrict travel from Turkey are:

• Canada
• Spain
• Great Britain
• India
• Chinese
• Countries like Australia have still not been successful in fighting the virus and so very high restrictions remain in place.
